Accounts & accounts reporting overview
Chalkstring is commercial and operational software for project-based contractors. Project account data is stored and updated as the project progresses and this information can be used together with 3rd party accounts systems.
The accounts menu consists of many sub menus:
- Orders - lists all orders for materials and fixed costs on any project.
- Invoices- lists supplier invoices and the order number they relate to.
- External costs - lists the external costs added into the 'Costs' menu onsite (blue menu). These are additional project costs which have not been included in the project scope.
- Supply & fit applications - lists the supply & fit applications from clients with payment values and statuses.
- Labour applications - lists the incoming labour applications from sub contractors with payment values and statuses.
- VAT codes - create and manage a range of sales tax rates.
- CIS codes - create and manage a range of labour tax rates
- Nominal codes - Set up nominal codes in Chalkstring based on your 3rd party accounts system
- Accounts Export - Export a batch of accounts information into Sage 50 or a CSV file format.
Filter accounts information
The relevant data is collated in the accounts section of the system and can be organised and filtered to suit your needs, then exported into open format spreadsheets to transfer into whatever format your accounting system requires.
Accounts Reporting
The accounts reporting function allows you to bulk transfer data from Chalkstring to your 3rd party accounts software.
To achieve this, you have the ability to map in the nominal codes already used by your accounts package, alongside the ability to create and track values against costs and revenues within Chalkstring for items including; retention, sales taxes (VAT) and labour taxes (CIS).
This feature allows you to periodically produce a CSV file containing all the relevant account data, ready for transfer to your 3rd party accounts software.
You may need to speak to your accounts software provider about the bulk import of data from the CSV file Chalkstring produces.
