Editing existing measures

Once a measure has been added to a drawing, you will find a number of options when click to select it.

  • Continue area/path - This is available on area and path type measures. Clicking continue area/path will continue the measure from the last point added when the measure was originally completed.
  • Add points - This is available on area and path type measures. Clicking add points provides you with the function to add an additional point to an existing measure. Once added, the new point can be adjusted as normal to modify the existing measure into a new shape.
  • Delete points - This is available on area and path type measures. Clicking delete points enables you to delete an existing point on the measure. It will delete the path up to the deleted point from the previous point. If a point is deleted by mistake, it can be restored by clicking 'Revert changes'.

When adding or making changes to measures in takeoff, you may see a blinking orange circle in the bottom right to highlight your most recent change is currently being processed and saved to the cloud. Do not navigate away from the current page or close the page whilst the blinking circle is present as doing so may result in the change not saving correctly.

Moving measures to different products

Measures can be moved to another product in the same drawing if required

Single measures

  • Click the measures you want to move to a different product and select 'Move to...' from the side panel.

Multiple measures

  • For multiple measures, multi select the items and click the Move button in the left-hand panel.
  • You’ll see a list of available destination products that match the unit type and aren’t already assigned to the measures.

  • Select the product to move the measures to and click 'Move' in the bottom right corner.
  • Once confirmed, the measures will instantly change colour to match the new product settings.
  • Measures can only be moved to products with the same unit of measure. E.g. M2
  • Measures that already have progress recorded against them can't be moved.

Multi select and bulk deleting measures

You can also remove multiple measures from a drawing in one go:

  • When using a desktop, hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and click to select each measure, or you can drag a rectangle around the measures you want to select uing your cursor.
  • On tablets, tap the Select tool (arrow icon), then tap individual measures or drag a lasso around them using your finger.

  • The  count of selected measures will be shown in the left-hand panel and the selected measures will be highlighted with a blue outline.
  • To delete the selected measures, click 'Delete selected'.
  • Click  'Delete' again on the confirm page to remove the measures. 
  • Once deleted, measures cannot restored. 
  • Only visible measures will be included when multi selecting by dragging a rectangle or lasso.
  • Deleting all measures for a product won’t remove the product itself — it stays in the list with zero quantities.
