What is progress tracking on budget only assessments?
Progress tracking on budget only assessments in Chalkstring involves monitoring the advancement of a project based on one total budget for the whole project rather than detailed cost estimates broken down into separate products or sections. This method allows you to track how much of the budget has been completed and therefore how much to claim for in your applications, providing a high-level overview of the project’s financial status without the need for granular cost breakdown.

Logging progress
Once a project is onsite, you will need to mark your progress to for you budget only assessments. Marking progress enables you to monitor budget consumption costs and assess your current application revenues. Progress feeds directly into your applications for payment ensuring a quick and easy way to claim for your completed work.
Budget only assessments contain a streamlined progress interface that helps you keep track of your costs and progress information. You can log progress directly from a mobile device while onsite. All necessary calculations are managed in the background, allowing you to focus on moving the project forward efficiently.
Total progress
When 'Progress' is selected from the main blue menu, the default area is 'Progress by product'.
1. Select the relevant work package to log progress. You will be presented with the details of your current progress for your budget only assessment.
2. Click on the '+'to record progress and view the following information:
- Total value - Blue number reflects current value based on the level of progress logged and the black number is the overall total value for the assessment.
- Progress bar - Reflects overall progress recorded for the assessment.
- Total costs incurred to date - Displays the total current costs for the assessment.
- Last updated - Displays the date and time the progress was last updated.
- Progress slider - Use the progress slider to log actual progress for the assessment.
- Percentage - By default, the progress slider displays the overall progress of the assessment as a percentage. as you move the slider along, the percentage of progress will increase . This allows you to quickly move the slider to an approximate % based position.
- 'Specify in total value' - Clicking this tick box allows progress slider to be updated as a monetary value rather than as a percentage.
- 'Manually enter total value' - Clicking this tick box allows you to manually input a value you wish to specify as the current level of progress.

The progress page will display a coloured dot to highlight the level of progress currently marked for the assessment.
- Red - No progress marked
- Orange - Some progress has been marked as complete. The darker the blue, the higher the level of progress completed.
- Green - Progress marked as 100% completed.
The value from the progress marked will fed directly into your next applications for payment. To see a breakdown of the effects progress updates have made on your future application, click the 'Preview outgoing application'. button.
