    This release introduces Chalkstring’s Xero integration, making it easier to move financial information from Chalkstring into your accounting system.

    The focus of this release is reducing manual data entry, improving accuracy, and giving you clear visibility of what has been sent to Xero and when. The integration allows you to connect your Chalkstring account to Xero, sync contacts, and push approved invoices and labour applications directly into Xero as bills.

    Why these changes matter

    • Less manual work: Reduce double entry between Chalkstring and Xero.

    • Improved accuracy: VAT, nominal codes and CIS are handled consistently.

    • Clear visibility: Easily see what has been sent to Xero and what hasn’t.

    • Smoother workflows: Approved costs flow straight into accounts without rework.

    New features 

    Connect Chalkstring to Xero

    You can now securely connect your Chalkstring account to your Xero organisation.

    Once connected, you can:

    • Link VAT codes in Chalkstring to Xero tax rates

    • Link nominal codes to Xero accounts

    • See clear checks and warnings before anything is sent to Xero

    Benefit: Setting things up correctly upfront helps ensure transactions are posted to the right accounts with the correct tax treatment, reducing errors and rework later.

    Sync Clients, Subcontractors and Suppliers

    You can now sync and link contact records between Chalkstring and Xero.

    This allows you to:

    • Push contacts from Chalkstring to Xero

    • Link Chalkstring records to existing Xero contacts

    • Pull contacts from Xero into Chalkstring

    • Use bulk sync tools to speed up initial setup

    Benefit: Keep contact records aligned across both systems without needing to re-enter the same information multiple times

    Push Material and Fixed Cost Invoices to Xero

      Approved material and fixed cost invoices can now be pushed directly from Chalkstring into Xero, where they appear as bills.

      You can:

      • Push invoices once they’re approved

      • Link Chalkstring invoices to existing Xero bills if required

      • Clearly see which invoices have already been sent to Xero

      Credit notes are also supported and are pushed through in the correct format.

      Benefit: Save time, reduce duplicate data entry, and keep your accounts up to date with minimal effort.

      Push Labour Applications (Including CIS Handling)

      Approved labour applications can now be pushed from Chalkstring into Xero as bills.

      This includes support for:

      • CIS-registered subcontractors

      • Automatic CIS deductions calculated by Xero (based on your Xero setup)

      • Retention included within labour applications

      Benefit: Remove a significant manual step and help ensure CIS and retention are handled consistently and accurately.
